Fred Johnson
BASS GUITARIST, VOCALIST, LEAD GUITARIST
Fred has been surrounded by music his entire life. His father was a jazz trombone player and his mother played classical piano. His brother and sister also play guitar, piano, and bass.
Fred’s first instrument was the clarinet which he played at recitals in Catholic grade school. He quickly abandoned the clarinet after seeing the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show. Like so many other musicians who watched this episode, this was a life changing event for him.
Fred has lived in St. Louis, Chicago, and the San Francisco area, playing either bass guitar or lead guitar in bands from all sorts of genres. In the early 80’s Fred had the choice to either go to the Berkeley College of Music in Boston, or take the “safe” route and enroll in a traditional college. He chose the safe route, and earned a degree in Computer Science. Fortunately, after college he was able to stay in the entertainment industry by writing software for various video and music editing tools and applications used by major music and television studios including Sony Pictures,
The Late Show, CBS, to name a few.
Fred moved to Florida in 2019 at the suggestion of his good friend, and former Chicago bandmate Cliff Weitzman. Fred and Cliff literally live down the street from each other, and Fred often subs in on guitar for Cliff’s band. The move proved to be a blessing.
After subbing in numerous band in the SWFL area, Fred is thrilled to find a home as a member of Limited Edition. -
Tank Martin
DRUMS, KEYBOARD, VOCALIST
Tank has been in music from a very early age. He received his first real drum set at age 8. Raised in a very musical family, he started performing on his families radio show at age 9. Played his first stage gig at age 10. From there, he expanded his repertoire from gospel to country, classic and southern rock, on to funk, R&B and jazz. By the time he made high school, Tank was already teaching private lessons on drums and percussion.
Soon after, he streched out and started learning sax and piano. As he finished his final year of high school, Tank marched with drum corps for two years. After graduating, he attended Limestone college in pursuit of a music degree. Following that, Tank taught middle school and high school percussion for 11 years. Focused predominantly on marching band and jazz ensemble. Meanwhile, he continued to gig and grow performing and singing. During this time, he had the priviledge to perform behind some of the country music legends such as Patty Lovelace, Eddie Rabbit, Johnny Paycheck and Hank Williams, Jr., just to name a few.
In the last 20 years, Tank has done a lot of studio work. Providing drum tracks and percussion for recording sessions and demo recordings. After moving to Florida several years ago, Tank has enjoyed the music locally and has remained active on the south west Florida music scene for over 13 years.
